Train the Trainer FETAC Level 6

BACKGROUND

 

This Five Day Programme has been designed to equip participants with the essential skills and techniques necessary to deliver quality training programmes. Participants will cover learning styles, identification of Training Needs, and the design of Training Programmes.

 

One full day will be dedicated to delivery of training and professional presentation skills with interactive role-play and simulation exercises. Our training experts place strong emphasis on practical application throughout. Participants will be introduced to Training Evaluation, maintaining records and will be guided by our ROI expert, through measuring Return on Investment.

 

Our trainers will be on hand throughout the programme to offer guidance, support and assistance. Successful attendees will be awarded with a FETAC Minor Award in Train the Trainer at Level 6.

 

Entry Requirement: Participants must hold a Leaving Certificate or equivalent Qualification and / or have relevant life and work experience.

 

PROGRAMME AIMS & OBJECTIVES

 

AIM:

The programme aims to utilise participants existing company knowledge and skills whilst equipping them with the formal skills and confidence required to impart this knowledge in a relaxed a conducive learning environment.

 

OBJECTIVE:

On completion of the programme, participants will be able to:

§         Understand different learning styles.

§         Understand the functions and processes of learning and training

§         Evaluate different approaches to training

§         Design, Deliver and Evaluate Training Programmes

§        Develop and Implement appropriate assessment methods

 

PROGRAMME CONTENT

 

Unit 1 – Theory of Training and Adult Learning

  • Applying theoretical concepts to training practice
  • Identifying the prerequisites for effective communication in groups
  • Understanding group dynamics
  • Overview of the key principles and methodologies that underpin adult learning styles, learning outcomes and the best techniques

 

Unit 2 – The Role of the Trainer

  • Demonstration of good training practices
  • Overview of Learning Styles and Training Styles
  • Conflict Resolution Techniques
  • Dealing with Discriminatory attitudes and behaviours
  • Identification of personal training and development needs

 

Unit 3 – Training Needs Analysis and Programme Design

  • How to identify training needs
  • How to analyse training needs
  • Designing a training programme

 

Unit 4 – Preparing for Training Delivery

  • Planning the delivery of a training session
  • Preparing appropriate training methods
  • Preparing exercises for use within a training session
  • Appropriate use of visual aids

 

Unit 5 – Delivery and Assessment

  • Establishing and promoting a positive learning culture
  • Effective listening and feedback skills
  • Analysing learners achievement of training objectives
  • Evaluating a range of assessment and delivery techniques
  • Giving Feedback

 

Unit 6 – Evaluation of Training Delivery

  • Training Programme Evaluation
  • Gather input from learners on Programme effectiveness
  • Identification of opportunities for improvement of delivery
  • Preparing a programme improvement plan

FETAC CERTIFICATION

 

This course is certified by FETAC (Further Education and Training Awards Council). FETAC gives people the opportunity to gain recognition for learning in training centres, in the workplace and in the community. The FETAC Assessment periods are January, May, August and November. FETAC issue certificates within approximately 2 months of each assessment period.

 

FETAC ASSESSMENT

 

Participants who wish to achieve a FETAC Component Certificate must complete one assignment (50%) and a Skills Demonstration (50%).

 

Assignment

A report, as a reflective piece of work, based on the participant’s research on adult training, services or issues. The report must provide an a clear indication of the learners understanding of the theory and their ability to understand its practical application in terms of specific learning outcomes, planning, researching conducting and evaluating a training session. This will be provided too you on the fourth day of the programme. It must be submitted within 4 weeks. (50%)

 

Skills Demonstration

In two (15 – 20 minute) skills demonstrations, learners will show have an opportunity to be assessed on their presentation skills, use of visual aids, and use of learning materials.  This will be provided too you on the first day of the programme. It must be assessed on Week 3 of the programme. (50%)

 

GRADING

  • Pass 50 - 64%
  • Merit 65 - 79%
  • Distinction 80 - 100%
